Face it our dogs are curious, they will try almost anything once even if it’s not food. Take the time to read ALL labels and be vigilant, always put any items containing Xylitol or any caustic chemicals completely out of reach of your pet.

THE SIGNS

Xylitol absorbs into the bloodstream much faster in dogs than us. Toxicity can happen in as little as 30 minutes but can present up to 48 hours after being swallowed. Look for vomiting, loss of body control or coordination, lethargy or weakness, staggering, seizures, falling over, tremors and or coma. Do not induce vomiting call your veterinarian office or an emergency veterinarian hospital ASAP! Let them know you are bringing your dog in.
